Hulu Plus is now available for Apple TV.
The service is similar to Netflix in the sense that it offers on-demand streaming of popular television shows and movies. The selection is different, and many users can get by just fine with a set-top box and 2 or 3 of these $8/month services as it offers them a combination of streaming and a variety of options for viewing.
Here are some details, PR/marketing talk from Hulu’s official blog:
For those of you who are new to the service, Hulu Plus is the only online premium video subscription that streams current and classic TV programming on demand from hundreds of content partners, including top broadcast networks ABC, NBC, FOX, The CW and Univision. Hulu Plus subscribers can watch on any enabled devices for $7.99/month with limited advertising. For many popular shows on our service, Hulu Plus offers every episode of the current season. Hulu Plus subscribers also have access to back seasons and full runs of some of TV’s greatest shows, including many that were not available online before, in HD whenever possible.
In recent years, little sub-$100 set-top boxes that literally fit in the palm of your hand have risen in popularity. They aren’t as huge as say tablets or smartphones, but they have their market. We’re willing to bet that much of their sales are driven by Netflix. To the casual user who may not have a Wii or an Xbox, these make excellent streaming devices.
