According to reports, the image above is of an iPhone 5 that’s been smuggled out of a Foxconn factory.
It’s very possible that this is in fact the next iPhone. There is now way to know for sure, but it wouldn’t be the first time an iPhone gets released into the wild before it’s announced. As website Gizmodo puts it, this could very easily mean that Foxconn is already mass-producing the device in preparation for the upcoming launch, which is expected to be in October, as was the case with the iPhone 4s.
However, it’s also noted that Apple could be pushing up manufacturing as the iPhone 4s sold a bit lower-than-expected last quarter. This was mostly due to potential buyers anticipating the iPhone 5, and choosing to hold out rather than make a purchase. Obviously, this hurt sales, and perhaps Apple would rather get the handset out than suffer a disappointing quarter.
As for the handset itself, it looks pretty much like all the reports and leaked parts we’ve been seeing and hearing about.
