AT&T Won’t be Charging for FaceTime Over Cellular, But Wants You to Buy a Shared Data Plan

AT&T has announced that they won’t be charging subscribers an additional fee for FaceTime over 3G usage. However, you will have to subscribe to their shared data plan.

Here’s part of AT&T’s recent statement:

“AT&T will offer FaceTime over Cellular as an added benefit of our new Mobile Share data plans, which were created to meet customers’ growing data needs at a great value. With Mobile Share, the more data you use, the more you save. FaceTime will continue to be available over Wi-Fi for all our customers.”

This is good news as there was some concern. Well, it’s good-ish news, because some folks may not want that shared plan. Meanwhile, Sprint says they will not charge extra and Verizon has not made an announcement.
