If you’ve ever wanted to know what time it is on Mars right now (Who doesn’t, right?) you can. There is a new application for Mac that lets you check the time on Mars through your computer. You know, if you’re interested in all that Curiosity landing-type news we’ve been hearing so much about these last few days.
It’s a Java application, and you don’t need to shop the Mac App Store to pick it up. Just head over to giss.nasa.gov and download the Mars24 Sunclock app for free.
You should check it out, but as TUAW points out, there are some drawbacks: Most Mountain Lion Macs don’t have a Java virtual machine installed, and that it requires you to select “allow applications downloaded from anywhere” to work. This can be a bit of a security concern for some, but check it out if you like.
