Geekbench has tested out the iPhone 5’s processor, and discovered that its A6 is pretty fast. It’s definitely faster than all other iOS devices, even the iPad 3. For instance, the iPhone 5 clocked in with a score of 1601. The iPad 3 averaged in at 766.
They say that the iPhone 4S has a score of 629. This helps add some validity to Apple’s claim that the new processor is twice the speed of the A5. Gruber of Daring Fireball makes an interesting observation. He says that the A6 is faster than any of the PowerBooks Apple ever sold, noting that the notebook line maxed out at just below 1,000.
