Last year Apple brought popular iOS hacker Comex on as a remote intern. He is no longer with the company. The reason? He forgot to get back to them when they offered to keep him on.
There’s a bit more to it than forgetting an email, but that’s pretty much what it boils down to.
Comex, whose real name is Nicholas Allegra, wrote the following in a Tweet:
“So… no point in delaying. As of last week after about a year, I’m no longer associated with Apple.”
He wasn’t terminated. He didn’t quit. Rather, he forgot to reply when they offered to keep him. Here’s a portion of Forbes’ report:
When I followed up with Allegra in a phone call, he explained that the email he forgot to answer was an offer to continue his employment at Apple as a remote intern. At Apple, apparently, offer letters are taken rather seriously, and Allegra soon learned that his had been rescinded. “I wasn’t too happy about it, but it didn’t seem like I was able to fix it,” he says. “So that’s what it is.”
Bummer. Though he did say there was more to it, but “it wasn’t a bad ending.” He could no, or would not,t talk about what he worked on, but he enjoyed his time there.
