Remotoscope is a tool developed by researches at Georgia Tech and Emory University. It’s a device that clips onto the iPhone and turns it into an otoscope (that’s the little thing with the cone-shaped tip that doctors stick in your ears).
The tool is used to remotely treat and diagnose an ear infection. Because it uses the iPhone’s camera, and flash, photos can be taken and sent to the doctor for closer examination. Even better, photos can be taken daily, and the progress can be monitored.
It’s amazing what can be done with technology these days. Something as simple as a smartphone can become an amazing medical tool.
