Apple has been ordered to pay $368 million to VirnetX, patent holding firm, by a federal jury in Texas, reports All Things D. When a credible publication like All Things D or the New York Times calls a company a patent holding firm, they really mean patent troll.
Apple did not comment on the matter, but All Things D expects them to appeal. VirnetX didn’t have anyone available for comment, either.
It’s also reported that the company has filed complaints against Apple with the US International Trade Commission alleging that the iPhone, iPad and Mac violate several of their patents. They also have pending cases against Cisco, Avaya and Siemens. They’ve also won lawsuits against Microsoft over patents they claim were infringed in several versions of Windows.
