Bob Mansfield is back at Apple. He retired earlier this year, but remained as an advisor to CEO Tim Cook. However, he is now back with Apple to a more official capacity as senior vice president of Technologies, a new division formed in the recent shakeup.
Mansfield retired back in June, but returned in August, just two months later. According to AllThingsD, this was “great news for Apple” as he is “very highly regarded within the company.”
Interestingly, the report says that Mansfield’s return was largely due to Forstall’s departure. Seems they didn’t get along very well, either.
To be clear, their source says “It wasn’t a him-or-me situation,” but “Bob was much more willing to commit to two years once he knew Scott was on his way out.”
