Is it Against the Law to Share Your Vote on Social Networks?

 voting polls

If you want to take a picture of your completed ballot and post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or any of the other social networks out there, you may want to think twice. Depending on your state, it can be considered a misdemeanor.

Citizen Media Law went through the trouble of breaking down what each state allows and doesn’t allow, so we will direct you to them for more information. Just remember to make sure you aren’t breaking a law in your state. Gizmodo put it in much simpler terms, which basically boils down to a “yes” or “no.”

Of course, even then it’s a little tricky. For instance, in Texas, where I live, you can disclose your vote, but you cannot record within 100 feet of a voting station.
