Apple Trademarks the Mac Startup Chime

That chime you hear every time you turn on your Mac has been trademarked by Apple.

It’s a friendly, welcoming sound.

The US Patent and Trademark Office calls it a “sensory mark” and describes it as “a sound mark consisting of a slightly flat (by approximately 30 cents) G flat/F sharp major chord.”

Interesting.
