Russian Smugglers Taking iPhone 5 Units into the Country

The iPhone 5 should be arriving in Russia soon, according to reports. However, smugglers are trying to get the handset into the country.

Google’s translation is a bit rough, but some smugglers were caught at the Sheremetyevo airport in Moscow. A man from Uzbekistan was caught en route from New York to Moscow to Istanbul. He apparently hid 165 iPhone 5 units and 8 iPad minis in a trashcan. These were then passed off to a cleaner at the airport. Someone tried to do this two days later with 400 iPhones put in a dumpster.

Looks like authorities are wising up to this kind of behavior.
