Apple CEO Tim Cook today announced that Apple will begin to manufacture the Mac in the US by next year.
This is pretty interesting news from Apple, and it’s something that we didn’t expect this soon. Labor in China is much cheaper than it is in the US, and there is much, much more manufacturing power. Still, Macs were at one time made in the US.
When asked why Apple doesn’t make things in America, Cook said that many components are already made in the US when it comes to Apple products. Cook also said that the company has been working for many years on bringing more manufacturing to the States. He added “Next year we will do one of our existing Mac lines in the United States.”
We’ve already seen that the 2012 iMac is made in the US.
