Some Afghan university students pulled a prank on OpenStreetMap a few years back, and it’s still visible on Apple Maps.
This doesn’t bode well for Apple’s mapping service. This means that the stuff was posted long before Apple used the data, and they totally overlooked it. Okay, there are lots of streets in the world. It’s impossible to find every potential mistake. However, OpenStreetMap has fixed the issue, and Apple’s maps still have the bogus street names. Names like Mojo Way, Bad Monkey and Hillbilly Hameed.
It’s not clear how long it will take Apple to fix these. According to reports, not many people in that area use iPhones, so they may not care all that much. Who knows? Maybe Apple just thinks it’s funny, and is going with it.
