Honda recently announced that its 2013 Accord and two of its Acura models will feature Siri Eyes Free integration.
Siri Eyes Free is what it sounds like. It’s a way for iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 owners running iOS 6 to use their handset with their car without having to take their eyes, and full-focus, off the road. They can text, make calls, listen to messages and more.
Personally, we don’t know how safe it is to even do it this way, but it’s much better than a bunch of people trying to post on Facebook while cruising down the Jersey Turnpike as they weave in and out of traffic. According to website GigaOm, several other car makers are looking to get into the Siri thing: Audi, BMW, Chrysler, Jaguar, Land Rover, Mercedes and Toyota. They also note that that GM announced it would have Siri compatible cars early on, and that the 2013 Chevy Spark and the Sonic should arrive later this year.
