Apple today released iOS 6.1 for their iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices. It’s the first major update to iOS 6, and brings a handful of bug fixes and some new features to Apple’s mobile operating system. Let’s take a look at what’s been added with this latest update.
1) Updated LTE Support
This new release adds 4G LTE support for an additional 36 carriers on the iPhone. The iPad gets LTE support for 23 additional carriers. You can see the full list of carriers here. We’re sure consumers that wanted that LTE support in their area will be very happy.
2) Purchase Movie Tickets Through Fandango with Siri
This is only available in the US for now. iPhone owners can now purchase movie tickets on Fandango by speaking to Siri. That just about sums it up. It’s probably nice to just tell Siri you want to buy tickets to Hansel and Gretel, and have her do most of the work for you.
3) iTunes Match Users Can Download individual Songs From iCloud
If you subscribe to iTunes Match, you can download your songs from iCloud individually. The explanation pretty much says it. That reminds us, Apple TV got an update today, and that gives us some iCloud features for music listening.
4) New button to reset the Advertising Identifier
By going to Settings>General>About>Advertising>Reset Advertising Identifier, you can reset the advertising identifier. This is just a measure to increase online privacy for those who don’t like advertisers tracking them.
