There were rumors that a new Apple TV was on the way. This came thanks to some code hidden deep within the latest software update.
Now we have even more confirmation of this. An FCC document points to a new Apple TV that is about a third of an inch smaller, and has a processor upgrade. It’s getting an A5X, if reports are accurate. However, it’s not clear yet whether it will do anything beyond what the current offerings do.
Worth noting, as pointed out by Electronista, is that it seems as if Apple is trying to make one unit to work for all markets. This is because of a new Broadcom chip that, as they put it, would “span the various frequencies needed for global wifi and Bluetooth stndards.”
It also mentions an integrated FM receiver. Interesting.
