According to web analytics firm StatCounter, the iPhone is topping Nokia in mobile internet usage for the first time.
While, not entirely surprising, this is significant because Nokia has long been far ahead of the others in this area. The chart above shows that. Still, Nokia has been on the decline with the introduction of handsets like the iPhone and further with Android handsets, particularly Samsung, which has become a big name in Android smartphones.
Platforms like iOS and Android have raised the bar for smartphones and mobile operating systems over the past five years. This has resulted in a decline of sales for classic mobile operating systems like Symbian and BlackBerry, both of which were once leaders in their industry. That’s how the times change.
