Apple has become much easier to deal with over the past year or so, say’s France Telecom-Orange CEO Stephane Richard. He spoke to reporters during a dinner in Barcelona, according to AllThingsD.
There are a few factors that could contribute to this. Apple co-founder and former CEO Steve Jobs was a notoriously brutal businessman, and was very tough to work with. He would negotiate with companies, and make them agree to his terms or kill the deal.
Current CEO Tim Cook is known to be easier to deal with. There is also increased competition. When Apple entered the smartphone and tablet market, it was really the only company doing things to the degree that it did. Apple didn’t invent smartphones or tablets, but it definitely raised the bar. Now that competition like Android exists, Apple has to be more willing to negotiate terms.
