iPad in education is a growing market. According to website TechCrunch, the company has sold 8 million of its tablets worldwide direct to education. It has also reached over 1 billion iTunes U downloads. Looks like schools are happily adopting Apple’s popular tablet.
It’s also reported that the company has sold over 4.5 million iPads to educational institutions in the United States alone. Some estimates say that the majority of those were sold over the past year. Man, that’s a lot of iPads going out to schools. As with any educational tool, what matters most is how it’s applied. Even a $500 tablet can be worthless if it’s not used properly for teaching.
Still, that’s much more than we would have guessed. It seems that Apple’s recent push on iTunes U and iBooks textbooks has done more than we thought.
