Vine now has an App Store rating of 17+. This comes after all that noise about the service being used to upload short, animated videos, which are basically GIFs, onto the service. Some folks were posting videos of their naughty bits. Personally, I haven’t checked, so I don’t know exactly how much exposure there way in these.
Now you can’t download the app without getting the 17+ rating. Some people are angry, but the App is still there. It’s not going to stop a download. Even the browser apps have that warning, as they can be used to find porn.
Here’s what the description now reads:
You must be at least 17 years old to download this app.
- Infrequent/Mild Alcohol, Tobacco, or Drug Use or References
- Infrequent/Mild Horror/Fear Themes
- Frequent/Intense Sexual Content or Nudity
- Infrequent/Mild Profanity or Crude Humor
- Infrequent/Mild Realistic Violence
- Infrequent/Mild Cartoon or Fantasy Violence
- Infrequent/Mild Mature/Suggestive Themes
- Infrequent/Mild Simulated Gambling
What’s a bit funny is that the only one marked “Frequent” and “Intense” is the sexual content and nudity. Shows what people are doing with their time.
