Apple Modifies Advertising for Retina MacBook Pro

Retina Pro splash page

The Retina MacBook Pro is the highest resolution notebook available. The 13-inch used to be the second highest, but Google’s Chromebook Pixel changed that.

Now the Chromebook Pixel has a 2,560×1,700 pixel display. It’s still lower than the 15-inch Retina Pro’s 2,880 x 1,800, but higher than the 13-inch, which has a 2,560 x 1,600 display. As TUAW points out, Apple modified its website to reflect this.

Previously, the Retina MacBooks carried that tagline, “The highest-resolution notebook ever. And the second-highest.” Now it says “High performance has never been so well defined.” We’re sure someone at Apple is upset that they can no longer make that highest-resolution claim. At the same time, they are probably happy to see other notebook makers aim for high-res screens, because they know it will start yet another trend.
