Apple is no doubt working on a new iPhone. We don’t need rumors to tell us that. Since 2007, Apple has released a new iteration of the iPhone every year. Still, there are a lot of rumors going around about the next iPhone. If Apple follows its current naming convention, we can expect the company to name it the iPhone 5s. Aside from that, we don’t know anything, but it’s likely that it will look much like the iPhone 5. Again, this is based solely on the past iPhone models.
Let’s take a look at what we think we know about the next iPhone.
1) Apple is upping production for the iPhone 5S
We recently learned that the iPhone 5S is very likely going into production in the near future. Foxconn is hiring employees as it ramps production up for the next iPhone. We’ve heard that the new handset may launch as soon as this summer. That sounds early, but the source is The Wall Street Journal, which is quite a bit more reliable than the average Apple rumor site. 2) New iPhone 5S will have fingerprint sensor
The iPhone 5S will have a fingerprint sensor, according to rumors. This will be the feature that makes it stand out against the iPhone 5. There are plenty of rumors that support this, but it’s also worth noting that Apple doesn’t typically change the design of the ‘S’ models all that much, if at all. Still, we can’t predict what any tech company will do these days. All we can do is speculate. Link
3) There will be a more affordable iPhone, it may come alongside the iPhone 5S
Another rumor we keep hearing is that Apple is working on a more affordable iPhone. Details are sparse on this one, too. Still, it’s been widely reported, and it’s safe to say that Apple is at the very least considering something in this market. If the rumors are accurate, the handset will have the same size screen as the iPhone 5. However, it will be a little bit thicker, and it will be metal instead of aluminum. Again, this is all rumor and speculation, but like the fingerprint sensor, we’ve heard this one over and over again for quite some time now. Link
4) The iPhone 5S will have a 12-megapixel camera sensor
The iPhone 5S is rumored to have a 12MP camera, according to Tinhte.vn, which comes from a source at Wonderful Saigon Electrics, which provides camera modules for the iPhone. Aside from the bump to 12MP, this camera may feature an improved low-light mode. This is another feature that has constantly been upgraded with iPhone new models. This may not come as a surprise, as website 9to5Mac puts it, Apple typically updates the camera in its ‘S’ models. This, and the fact that there have been rumors about the camera upgrade before. Link
The iPhone 5S
We really don’t know exactly what to expect from Apple’s next iPhone. The company may surprise us with a fingerprint sensor, or it may play it safe and just release an incremental upgrade as it’s done many times in the past. It’s difficult to say, but We do know that Apple is constantly facing increased competition from rivals. That said, it may be worth placing some focus on the software side. Yes, the hardware is important, but some major updates to iOS with iOS 7 could really put it ahead of the competition.
