According to the Silicon Valley Mercury News, Twitter today launched its music service. However, it’s available by invite-only. Ryan Seacrest claims he is one of those folks, so we are pretty sure most of us shouldn’t count on an invite. It’s been rumored for a while now, and the company opened a teaser site, which is still up, music.twitter.com. However, the image above is all there really is to see there.
There isn’t much information available, and from what we can see, nobody even knows what it does. However, some reports say that it sounds like more of a promotional tool than of a music service in the way we tend to think of them (for instance, Spotify).
If recent reports are accurate, Twitter is expected to launch the service this weekend. We’ll find out soon enough, I’m just not holding out for anything amazing.
