iTunes 11.0.3 Arrives With New MiniPlayer and Better View for Multi-disc Albums

iTunes 1103 Update

Apple today released iTunes 11.0.3. It actually has some notable new features outside of the usual bug fixes.

First, and probably least interesting to most users, security updates. You can check those out here if you want to know specifics.

For end users, iTunes brings two main features and another minor update. Here is list of updates:

– New MiniPlayer . MiniPlayer now includes a beautiful new view that showcases your album artwork. In addition, a progress bar is now built right into the MiniPlayer.

– Improved Songs View. You can now enjoy your album artwork while in Songs view.

– Multi-Disc Albums. Albums with multiple discs now appear as a single album.

Just launch iTunes and check for updates or use the Mac App Store (the download ends up coming from the same place anyway).

iTunes has evolved over the years, but it definitely isn’t my player of choice anymore. Spotify has taken over things for music on my computer. iTunes is basically for syncing now, and sometimes I will buy a song to listen in the car. Other than that, everything is available on my iOS devices and music listening is streamed.
