Report: Sharp to Begin Manufacturing of iPhone 5S LCD in June

Expect the iPhone 5S later this year? Yeah. We do, too. According to reports, Sharp is set to begin production on the LCD by June.

We have no idea whether this is true or not. The report comes from Japan-based Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun by way of AppleInsider.

If Apple keeps its current schedule, we should see the iPhone 5S later this year. It seems likely that it will be around the fall, mostly because the Cupertino company has stuck to that iPhone release window for the past two years. Now that all iOS devices update on that timeline, it feels more likely that production will begin this summer as Apple tries to ramp hardware up for a release closer to the end of the year.

It’s likely that the iPhone 5S will look just like the iPhone 5 with some internal tweaks and some new features, but probably not a huge upgrade as ‘S’ phones in Apple’s release schedule usually don’t feature major updates to the design.
