Apple and Other Major Tech Firms Call for More NSA Transparency

NSA logo

Several large tech firms, such as Apple, Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Twitter are calling for the National Security Agency (NSA) to increase transparency for the US government’s surveillance efforts.

The alliance formed in an effort to ask the government to allow them to report on national security-related information requests. Here are some examples as pointed out by AllThingsD:

  • The number of government requests for information about their users
  •  The number of individuals, accounts, or devices for which information was requested
  •  The number of requests that sought communications content, basic subscriber information, and/or other information.

The full letter is available at AllThingsD.
