Apple TV Has 56.1 Percent of Set-top Box Market

Apple TV - 2G

According to a recent report, Apple’s little set-top box “hobby” has about 56.1 percent of the market.

This comes from Frost & Sullivan. It doesn’t have a lot compared to some similar devices, but the biggest selling point is its integration with other Apple devices. Makes sense. That’s part of the reason I own one.

It seems that buyers like the fact that they can beam things over with AirPlay. Users can mirror our computer monitor, iPad or iPhone to  Apple TV.

Meanwhile, there are devices like Roku, which have lots of content. However, the name isn’t as popular as Apple, and it doesn’t directly integrate with several devices that consumers already happen to own.
