This is a jerk move. Scalpers in China are booking up tons of Genius Bar appointments and selling them online for a hefty price.
This report comes from the Beijing Morning News (via CultofMac). A reporter wanted to book an appointment, but there were no openings. After looking around, he found that some online companies were offering to sell appointments for a few yuan. After booking through them, he had the appointment.
The problem, it seems, is that Apple doesn’t seem to confirm some of these details. At least not the Chinese Apple Stores. The customer just goes up with their booked time and they get help. They don’t have to verify an identity, it seems.
