Apple has also updated parts of its Chinese website to help consumers differentiate between official Apple chargers and off-brand ones
Apple is currently offering a $10 trade-in credit for off-brand chargers. This is in response to a recent incident in which a woman was electrocuted when using an iPhone that reportedly had a cheap, third-party charger.
In order to help prevent future accidents, Apple is offering $10 trade-in credit for folks wanting to purchase an official Apple charger. As Apple says, “While not all third party chargers have an issue, we are announcing a USB Power Adapter Takeback Program to enable customers to acquire properly designed adapters.”
This promo ends October 18th.
