Do you like ads? Nobody really does unless you’re making the money from them. Google has added what it calls relevant ads to its iOS Maps app.
That said, according to MacLife, they don’t really get in the way, and they are based on your search history. From there, you can look at the ad to find the phone number, operating hours, reviews and more. It doesn’t seem like a big deal, and maybe some people won’t mind. However, we’re sure that there will be some users who become annoyed with the advertising.
The good news is that it really is doing its best to be relevant. It’s not just random ads that you have zero interest in. This kind of thing isn’t new. We see it all the time in our apps now. We even see ads, places and suggestions based on where we are or what we’ve been doing on our smartphones. Sure, it can be a bit strange, but there are always way to opt out or use a different app.
