Today you can buy Plants vs. Zombies 2 on the App Store. Rather, you can download it for free, and pay four bucks for Snow Peas or $8 for bundles.
Honestly, this seems like a bad idea. Even some of the initial reviews seem to say so, referring to the In-app purchases:
– Fun is over-shadowed by expensive IAPs.

Upgrades/Premium Plants range between $2.99 and $3.99. That’s insane! I could buy 20-30 new apps with the money I would spend on all the upgrades/plants! Lower the prices, and maybe I’ll consider a purchase.
– Too much IAP! Wish I could pay a single price!
Prefer the original. More for the money.
– IAP and EA
Having IAP is enough, not only that but EA bought them.
Seems nobody is a fan of the in-app purchases.
However, if you still want to try thegame out, you can.
