For a while it seemed that Apple would do away with the iPhone 5 upon the release of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C with the 5C being the option for those who want a less expensive handset. However, it seems that Apple plans to keep both.
The rumor comes from Flo’s Weblog, a German site that caught the above image from carrier Vodafone Germany. It will discontinue the 32 and 64GB iPhone 5 models, but continue to carry the 16GB unit.
This, according to CultofMac, is in line with Canada’s Telus.
That said, perhaps this will be how Apple drops the iPhone 4S. Rather than offer it for free, perhaps Apple will offer the iPhone 5C as the free (with a contract) alternative.
