Apple is always trying to make the iPhone experience easier for end users. Right now the company is trying to patent an idea that allows the iPhone to automatically switch cameras during FaceTime calls.
This would give users the ability to move back and forth when on a call without having to touch the camera switch icon.
The patent application is for “Automatic video stream selection.” The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) published it today.
The method would use audio and video cues. For instance, perhaps if the user says something such as “check out the view out here.” While that’s just an example, such an audio cue could tell the iPhone to switch automatically. Or perhaps even something as simple as “let me switch cameras” and the iPhone would know that you want to switch views so that the other person can see what you are looking at.
