Apple emailed developers to let them know that OS X Mavericks is getting Safari push notifications.
The Cupertino company is doing this so that website developers can sent out notifications to web users on their computer, even if the browser isn’t running. This is similar to the Twitter or Facebook notifications we all get in the corner of our screen.
This is the kind of thing that’s ideal for major website updates or for breaking news. We just hope it doesn’t become annoying, or that there is a way to opt into these notifications for certain websites.
