Apple only spends two percent of its revenue on R&D, according to a recent report. That’s despite the 32% increase we saw last year.
Steve Jobs was never big on R&D, and some thought it was strange to see Apple increase spending last year. Regardless, that spending amounts to only a very small portion of Apple’s total revenue.
However, website CultofMac points out that Microsoft spent around 13 percent of its revenue on R&D during the 2013 fiscal year.
We also learned yesterday that Microsoft spends more on advertising than Apple. Granted, Microsoft is in several markets. Apple has a very strong focus on a few.
