The iPad Air is selling five times faster than the iPad 4 did over opening weekend, according to Fiksu, Inc. data.
This isn’t a complete surprise. The iPad 4 wasn’t really a major change to the iPad line. It was slightly faster, and the only real difference was the Lightning connecter. It seems that Apple just wanted to put a Lightning port on the iPad for consistency’s sake.
There was also the fact that many consumers had just purchased an iPad 3 months before. Upgrading again just didn’t seem worth it at the time.
