Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor FaceTime Calls Cancer-Stricken Friend While on Stage

Photojournalist Andrew Youssef has been taking photos of live bands for many years now. However, he was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer back in 2011. One of his favorite bands, Nine Inch Nails has helped him through these times.

Given only “weeks or a few months to live” he wasn’t able to make his Nine Inch Nails show as planned. Trent Reznor decided to give his friend a call via FaceTime. “What’s up, man? Just thought I’d say ‘hi’.” Reznor asked for the lights to be put on the audience, and during the call turned the iPhone around so that Youssef could see the crowd as they began to chant “Andrew.”

It was a very cool moment. The band went on to play ‘in This Twilight’ dedicating it to Youssef. The song is one that holds special significance to Youssef as he fights his battle with cancer. You can see much of Youssef’s photography here.
