This is one of the coolest ideas we’ve seen in a long time. Imagine receiving your iPhone or iPad through an Amazon drone in less than an hour.
That’s how Amazon Prime Air will one day work.
Sadly, it’s still a few years off. This is because it’s still going through R&D. After that, there is still needs for advancement in technology and clearance on certain FAA regulations. Here’s a portion of Amazon’s announcement page:
We’re excited to share Prime Air — something the team has been working on in our next generation R&D lab.
The goal of this new delivery system is to get packages into customers’ hands in 30 minutes or less using unmanned aerial vehicles.
Putting Prime Air into commercial use will take some number of years as we advance the technology and wait for the necessary FAA rules and regulations.
Check out this footage from a recent test flight.
We hope this comes sooner rather than later. I can’t wait to have my iPad mini delivered direct to my house by air.
