Zombies, Run! is a fitness game for the iPhone. As you run, with your iPhone and earbuds on, you will hear zombies coming toward you. You must pick up the pace when you hear them. in order to outrun them. The game is basically interval training. It forces you to jog and run at intervals to raise and lower your heart rate. This helps your body burn more calories. Cool thing about this game is that it’s a fun way to get fit.
P90X is one of the most popular workout programs out there. It’s now available for iPhone. It’s a great program, but it can be a bit pricey. Still, if you are serious about getting started and getting in shape, P90X is a great place to start. It will guide you through several workouts and does a pretty good job of teaching you good habits: nutrition, split training, muscle confusion, stretching, warming up, etc.
When trying to get in shape, you have to be held accountable for keeping up with your workouts. Otherwise, you may not keep up with them. Cody is the app for that. It’s a social network made for people who want to get fit. You can post your workouts, create workouts for others and track your progress. The real reason we love this app is the inspiration it brings us. Nothing makes you want to work out like meeting others with the same goals working towards what they want to be.
My Plate by Livestrong is a longtime favorite of ours. You can track your weight and calories consumed. It has a helpful online community and helps you break down nutrition information for common foods. The only real downside is that if you’re not eating something that’s clearly marked. For instance, if you are making your own meals, you kind of have to calculate or estimate what you are consuming by measuring portions. However, if you are eating popular, known foods, you can use the nutrition information on the side of the box to get your information.

Most folks plan to lose weight or get in shape when the new year comes around. Others want to stop smoking. My QuitBuddy is a free app that will help you quit smoking. It even totals up more or less how much you are saving by not smoking.
