One year after becoming BlackBerry’s “Creative Director,” whatever that is, Alicia Keys and the smartphone maker are parting ways.
According to CNN, “Creative Director” is pretty meaningless when talking about celebrities and tech companies. It’s usually just a fancy, official-sounding way to say celebrity spokesperson. This is something they say is true with Lady Gaga and Polaroid and will.i.am at Intel.
Well, it’s a cute idea, but it’s probably easier to just feature the celebrity in a few commercials a la Ashton Kutcher in the Nikon commercials. Did he even hold a fancy creative director position, or was he was just a pretty face to put in front of the camera? Poor guy. He got the short end of the stick there.
