Facebook is buying up WhatsApp, a cross-platform chat application, for $19 billion in cash and stock.
Well, that’s a lot of money, and its getting a lot of attention. It’s quite the acquisition. According to Reuters, this is part of an attempt to help popularize Facebook with younger users. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also noted that WhatsApp is adding about a million users a day.
According to Zuck, “WhatsApp will compliment our existing chat and messaging services to provide new tools for our community.”
