It’s amazing to think that there are nearly as many cellphone subscriptions (6.8 billion) as there are people living on Earth (7 billion), according to the United Nations Telecommunications Agency. Those numbers are a bit hard to believe, but either way, it’s a lot.
That also means more cellular subscriptions exist than landlines have ever existed. That makes sense, as a single household can now have multiple cellular phones, while in the past a household typically had one or two landlines.
The crazy high number translates to about 96 phones per 100 persons.
