According to market research firm NPD, the iPhone made up nearly half of US smartphone sales in 2013 at 45 percent.
This, says the report, makes it the top-selling smartphone in the US for the year. It’s also up slightly from the 2012 total share of 44 percent, according to NPD.
Behind Apple was other popular smartphone maker Samsung with a 26 percent marketshare, which is up from 24 in 2012. It also went over average household income for purchasers of the iPhone and of some of the other smartphones.
