Report: Apple Wants to Launch a Streaming TV Service

Apple TV

If a report from the pretty much almost always right about Apple rumor leaker, the Wall Street Journal, is correct, Apple is currently in talks with Comcast about launching a streaming TV service.

The report does say that discussions are still early, so it has a long way to go before they announce anything.

According to the Journal, Apple wants to give users the ability to stream on-demand content stored on the cloud, “effectively taking the place of a traditional cable set-top box.”

It seems that Apple wants this TV service’s traffic to be separate from internet traffic for what is referred to as the “last mile.” The basic idea is that this is where things begin to get bogged down as several users in a region start using too much bandwidth.
