  • The Android OS may have democratization when compared to the authoritarian rule that Apple holds over the App Store and iOS, but this has also presented its major weakness. Through fragmentation and a lack of standardization you often have a lack of quality, and it is not always clear whether or not the app that you want is even compatible on your specific phone. This is much different than the iOS, which really only has a single phone that is works on and therefore all available apps are essentially compatible. One new development is hoping to remedy this Android problem by helping you figure out what is what.

  • Today iCloud was announced in all of its remote glory. The service takes the concept of MobileMe into the future. The main purpose of this is to allow all iDevice users a mobile hard drive that they can access from all their products. This means that documents worked on can be picked up on your iPad and iPhone, no matter where they started. This only culminates with music as the iTunes iCloud allows you to have a central library of music that can be used from all of your iDevices, not just one. It does this in two ways: it references files that it recognizes in your library to Apple‚Äö√Ñ√¥s licensed library of 18 million songs or it allows you to upload it to your iCloud storage space. The catch here is that you have to pay a $24.99 annual fee, which is not bad yet hardly free.

  • One of the most recent suggestions of this is in the kind of outreach that Apple‚Äö√Ñ√¥s public relations department is doing to build up a city of onlookers. Recently there were in Britain talking to different publications and media institutions, making requests that they make it to the San Francisco conference. This would be a little excessive to say the least if there was not something groundbreaking on the horizon.

  • The integration of the iPhone into the technical workings of your vehicle is taking a much more involved step than simply allowing you to access your media and apps through the dash.
The new Ambient Alerts system is going to act as a direct warning system for the health of your engine. When the iPhone with Ambient Alerts is positioned into a dock on the steering wheel it will act as a conduit to not just let you know that a problem is taking place, but to actually diagnose the issues and give you an indication as to how severe it is. Instead of just giving you a plain warning, which the car already does with the Check Engine light, the heart image can become different in appearance or even pulsate. How this will actually work in a practical setting remains to be seen, but it seems as though they are on the right track for this use of the iPhone as a way of assessing travel technologies.

  • The unity of camera and cell phone got a lot of imaginations churning years ago about how the final centralization of these devices may be a coming reality. It has been a slow road, but after the iPhone include full 720p video and then video editing software like iMovie right from the touch screen, it seemed that the iPhone may be on its way to being a fully integrated multimedia device capable of producing as well as viewing. This assumption has been pushed forward even more concretely with the recent release of CollabraCam.
CollabraCam, which is surprisingly only $6.00 at the iTunes App Store, is an app that can turn your iPhone into a centralized control booth for multiple camera inputs. What this can do is receive video feeds from four different iPhone’s and allow you direct interaction with them through the app. Here you will be able to see these feeds and do a live editing job through multi-cameras, recording a final video as you alternate between them. This format is one that is built out of the live television structure, which holds a controller that has the ability to switch between cameras live and then record the final edit.
